چکیده

Context Blood and rumen contents, which are currently considered wastes in many abattoirs, could be valuable ingredients poultry feeding; however, several factors including high fibre low energy may limit their dietary inclusion. There is need for more research on feed processing diet formulation to maximise utilisation of these by-products feeding. Aim We investigated the effect broiler finisher performance feeding bovine blood, digesta vegetable oil concentrate as a partial replacement soybean meal. Methods Three isonitrogenous isocaloric diets were formulated: control based maize meal, two test diets. In diets, heat-processed blood–rumen meal replaced 50% with without exogenous enzymes. Diets allocated five replicate pens containing six Ross broilers aged 21 days completely randomised design period days. Key results Results showed no treatment (P > 0.05) average daily intake but birds fed gained weight < converted efficiently than group. Enzyme supplementation had additional growth performance. effects relative weights carcass gut segments. Feed cost liveweight gain was reduced Conclusion Heat-processed can replace up fishier At this level replacement, enzyme not required. Implications The use blood content has environmental benefits.
